Near Final Alignment
Once the machine components are within dial indicator range, the adjustments for
misalignment should be made in a specific sequence. The four positions of alignment described
below are arranged in the recommended order.
1.
Angular in elevation
— This alignment is adjusted with shims and is not readily lost in
making the other adjustments.
2.
Parallel in elevation
— This alignment is also made with shims, but it cannot be made while
there is angular misalignment in elevation.
